Namaskar, which comes from the Sanskirt word, ‘Namaha’, meaning “to bow”, is a way of greeting somebody. It is tradition in India to do Namaskar or Namaste when greeting another person.

Namaskar is a sign of respect when greeting somebody- bring your hands together near your chest with your fingers pointing up to the sky and bow slightly. It generates spiritual energy because there are nerve endings in your palm and when your palms are held together, the pressure points become activated.
Namaskar recognizes that there is divinity in everything. When doing namaskar, you are bowing to the God in somebody else’s soul. This helps develop gratitude and humility within oneself. It is thought to be the most spiritual beneficial greeting.

We are always affected by different energies when we are communicating with other people.
